Freestyle Machine Embroidery Garland
Here's a quick peek at a string of bunting which I'm stitching for Easter Sunday. The message reads 'Happy Easter' and features a raw edge applique daffodil at each end. The 'T' of Easter is a cross, a reflection of the true meaning of the festival.

Whilst the rest of the UK is enjoying a bit of a Spring heatwave, here in the North East we've been under a thick blanket of fog and rain since the weekend and it's forecast to last a few more days yet. I've therefore not been able to go out and take any pictures in natural light.

I love your raw edge applique! It was very wet here for most of the day, but it has cleared up now.

ReplyDeleteI love your sneak peeks of your bunintg. The daffodils are lovely. I had to laugh as I saw the eggs in the picture and went and read it as raw egg applique until I did a double take and read it properly!

ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have the willpower either - They're polystyrene but look so realistic and even better they came from 'Poundland' with loads in the pack! Perfect for Easter decorations.

ReplyDeleteI love the freestyle stitching. I've tried doing it myself a couple of times but have issues getting the embroidery loop under the foot of my sewing machine. Would love to know how you did your bunting!
ReplyDeleteIf you don't want to go down the whole freestyle route, which often needs a hoop and the lowering of the feed dogs, try just reducing your stitch length, leaving the feed dogs up and using an open toe foot. It takes a bit longer but you have much more control and the results are identical.
